Make it easy to request recruitment process adjustments
The legal profession has come a long way with diversity and inclusion. However, disability still seems to be behind. For disabled students there are only a few open days that specifically support disabled people with a career in law. By way of reminder to employers and readers 19% of working age adults are disabled, yet only 3% of solicitors have disclosed a disability.
Making it clear on your website that potential candidates can request recruitment process adjustments and having a simple and transparent process for doing so makes it clear that you welcome applications from disabled candidates. Being transparent will mean that candidates are empowered to disclose their disability and request reasonable adjustments if they so wish. With the reasonable adjustments they need, disabled candidates can have a equal chance of getting the job.
