Could you be an Online Chat Volunteer for LawCare?
LawCare is looking to increase the availability of its online chat support service and is recruiting volunteers to train to cover this service.
Shift times will be 9am-12, 11.30-2.30 and 2-5 and it is hoped that volunteers will take one regular weekly shift. The volunteer will need to be at their computer for the entire duration of the shift but can be getting on with other work between chats.
You will need to be someone who works, or has worked, in the legal profession in the UK. Some training in counselling skills or knowledge of wellbeing and mental health issues may be helpful but is not essential as full training will be given. Fast and accurate typing ability and a level of confidence with IT systems and online chat in particular (including as a user) would also be helpful. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and ethnicities.
If you have experienced a traumatic issue, addiction, or mental illness we require that it is more than two years since the issue, or you are at least two years sober or symptom-free. Helping others can be challenging and we want to protect the wellbeing and recovery of our volunteers.
If you’d be interested in helping your fellow legal professionals in this way and would like more information please contact Anna Buttimore on abuttimore@lawcare.org.uk or 07508 809011.
